My Week in Tabs

Head of Techbology, Mark Davis, shares his favourite links this week.

1

Stop the “doomscrolling” - It’s tough at the moment, heavy topics are all around, from the pandemic to systemic racism. A good read here on how to look after yourself through all the heavy news.

2

Correcting unconscious bias. Clue is an experiential design studio that uses games to correct unconscious bias in the workplace.

3

As a white, middle aged male, I’m conscious of my privilege in this tumultuous time. Illustrator Jane Mount has put together an Anti-racist Bookshelf, with lots of great reading on the challenges around race

4

Dismantling the Minneapolis Police Department. I’m constantly buoyed by the power of the people. The George Floyd protests have echoed around the globe and it’s starting to see real change.

5

Simply, people of colour are often underrepresented in illustrations, design and visuals. A design company (5four) have put together free packs of illustrations that help present a more diverse picture. Get em in a range of formats for use anywhere and everywhere.

“Change happens by listening and then starting a dialogue with the people who are doing something you don't believe is right.”

Inside Today

What our team have been up to

The website we made for Minus18 launched a few weeks ago and has received great feedback so far. You can read more about the process in detail here

As an acknowledgement of the injustice experienced in Australia, we have donated $10,000 to Change The Record—a national, Indigenous-led coalition working to end the incarceration of, and family violence against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Innovation for fairer communities

Today is located on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri/Woiwurrung people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to Elders both past and present, and recognise and respect their abiding connection to this land, its waterways and community. Wurundjeri/Woiwurrung people have nurtured this land for over 50,000 years and continue to do so today. Sovereignty was never ceded.
